Meet the Esports Youth Club Team: Nile Woodberry

There's a new face at EYC. Nile Woodberry joined us in July as our Programmes & Impact Officer, which makes him the third full-time member of staff in EYC's history.
Nile is originally from Somerset and came to us from the University Campus of Esports, where he graduated with a degree in International Esports Business & Events Management. Alongside his studies he freelanced at some of the biggest events in the industry, including Gamescom and DreamHack so he arrived knowing the gaming world from the inside.
What the Job Involves
Nile helps to collect and share the impact data from the youth-focussed programmes we deliver, and he's building the processes behind that work as EYC keeps growing.
Put simply, it's the job of working out what our sessions actually do for the young people who come to them, and then being able to show it. It's the kind of work that supports our mission from behind the scenes.
With Nile here, we're putting more robust impact measurement frameworks in place, so we can go beyond headline numbers and look properly at what EYC, esports and video games do for young people and their communities.
In Nile's Own Words
"I was first introduced to EYC at a summit at Lambeth Town Hall, and seeing the reaction their stall got from young people, I remember telling my university staff, that's what we should be doing. I've been a gamer and followed esports since 2013, and EYC is the kind of service I wish had existed when I was growing up. Taking this role means I get to bring my industry experience to help young people build real skills, friendships and pathways to their future, in an environment they already enjoy, and understand how that carries on beyond EYC."
"We're delighted to welcome Nile into EYC's full-time core team. He brings a real passion for using esports and gaming as a force for social good, along with a meticulous eye for detail, whether he's digging into our impact data or developing in-depth case studies. He's already settled in brilliantly, and we're excited to have him on board as EYC continues to grow."

What's Coming Next
Nile's work will start showing up in what we share with you: more posts here, our newsletter, and an impact report at the end of the year. This is also the first in a series introducing the people behind EYC, so there are more of us to meet over the coming weeks.
In the meantime, our sessions are free and open to young people across South London. You'll find the latest times and places at esportsyouthclub.org/sessions. If you'd like to work with us or support our work, get in touch at contact@esportsyouthclub.org.
Welcome to the team, Nile!
