We're thrilled to share some fantastic news. Our much-loved EYC Downham Hub has officially reopened its doors, and it's all thanks to the incredible support of National Lottery players through the National Lottery Awards for All programme.
A Space for Young People, by Young People
After a period of closure, the Downham Hub is back up and running at its home upstairs in Downham Library, inside Downham Leisure Centre. The hub is open twice a week and completely free for young people to attend:
Mondays: 4:00pm to 6:00pm Fridays: 4:00pm to 6:00pm - During term times.
Whether you're after a place to unwind after school, catch up with friends, or just have some fun, this is your space.
What's On Offer?
The hub is packed with everything you need for a great time. We've got the latest video games for you to play, challenge your mates, and try out new titles. There are free drinks and snacks, because good times are even better when you're not hungry. And our experienced, friendly youth workers are always on hand for a chat, support, or just to join in the fun.
It's a safe, welcoming environment where young people can be themselves, build connections, and feel supported.
A Visit from Janet Daby MP
We were also really pleased to recently welcome Janet Daby, the Member of Parliament for Lewisham East, to one of our Friday sessions at the Downham Hub. Janet is a former Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Children and Families, so she has a real understanding of why spaces like ours matter for young people.
During her visit, Janet met our young volunteers and heard directly from them about how important it is to have somewhere to meet other young people after school, and the skills they're developing through taking on more responsibility as volunteers at the club. You can check out some photos from the visit over on her Instagram.
Having that kind of support from our local MP means a lot to us, and it's encouraging to know that the work we're doing is being recognised.

A Huge Thank You
This wouldn't have been possible without the generosity of National Lottery players. Our project was made possible thanks to #NationalLottery players, and we're so grateful for the funding that has allowed us to bring this vital community space back to life.
The Downham Hub has always been one of our most popular provisions, and we know how much it means to the young people in the local area. Being able to reopen it is a real milestone for EYC, and we can't wait to welcome everyone back through the doors.
Come Along!
If you're a young person in the Downham area, or you know someone who might benefit from a free, fun, and supportive space, spread the word. No sign-up needed, just turn up and join in.
